VRT is best known as Belgium’s national television channel, but over the years they’ve also grown to become a huge player in the field of digital media. The DPC (Digital Production Center) is the company’s dedicated branch for all web and mobile applications associated with VRT and its brands. In addition to building and maintaining digital platforms, DPC also develops content and grows communities.
This short animated overview of their work serves as a presentation of DPC’s core mission as well as highlighting a few key projects from 2019.
The great variety within DPC’s projects (in terms of visual styles and platform-specific characteristics) made it challenging to compile them into a unified showreel. To tackle this, we’ve designed a set of graphic elements which act as a sort of “umbrella” visual identity for the duration of the video. The poppy vibrant visuals are always present somewhere on the screen, ready to lead the viewer from one topic to the next.
Our main focus was on the enduser-centered goals of each of DPC’s activities. The motif of the different human senses (by featuring icons of eyes, ears, feet,…) builds up towards the human core that connects all featured topics. Additionally they illustrate how VRT has come to interact with the full sensorial experience of its audience. The days of passively watching tv are long gone.
